Denver Homeless

Is homelessness in Denver a solvable problem?

Until recently I would have never ever considered that as a solvable problem. Yet, through a random series of events I crossed paths with a man named Steven, someone I now consider a friend. He has a passion to bring the stories of this city to light and provide an avenue that allows people to follow the story and take part in it themselves to come together to bring redemption to these stories in our city. In talking with him he explained that there are only **800 or so homeless people in Denver (See note at bottom), and "that is a solvable problem". Not knowing this number before, I would have never considered that, however he's right. We have more that 800 churches in Denver, so getting 800 people off the streets is not an impossible feat. It is a tremendous and great feat to say the least, its a systematic problem, but impossible it is not.Read more

Prayers Are Usually Answered... Just not how we expect

It's a surreal feeling to look in the rear view mirror and see life flying by at 120mph to only look ahead again and know that you have no regrets over the last few years of your life. A lot has happend over these few years for both of us, but the joy of our friendship and now marriage has been completely worth it.  Megan and I have been moving and warp speed and once we finally landed in Maldives it felt like shell shock, I didn't know what to do with myself, I was crawling out of my skin not having anything to get done, I almost had a panic attack (not joking, and yes Megan is a saint).  Read more

25 In Change - A look at the first journey

This video is a quick snapshot of our journey as a team over the last 25 days, and of those on the other side of the world that we are fighting to see a change for. Listen to the lyrics of this song and watch the video and allow it to create empathy that drives you to take action. This is solvable, it only takes unity.

Blentec Meets Rice and Beans

Blendtec is not only the best blender on the market for making green drinks and smoothies, it apparently does a real nice job with rice and beans too.  To my luck, Dave had one and with a little persuasion of my guys group I was lucky enough to get my very own rice and beans smoothy.  Best part - 100 kids were fed by me drinking that bad boy because of the work we are doing through 25 in Change.

Psychological Empathy - First Weekend of 25 in Change

Its day 6 and my famous red cup and water bottle have become my loathed best friends. I love them because they keep me going, and loath them because they are the last thing in the world I want.  I'm only a week in and it's been extremely interesting to not only self evaluate my physical being but my psychological being.Read more

Over the last couple of years we have had quite the adventures together! Summers of camping, concerts, and poolside laughter will forever remain some of my most treasured memories. We have shared and celebrated the most special occasions together and I truly cherish the friendship we have created through our laughs, tears, and game nights;) I am incredibly excited to experience and share these next years of our lives together as so many possibilities are ahead of us!:)

The First 4 Days of 25 in Change

Its amazing how quickly your perspective on food, life, and joy change by taking just one variable out of your life equation.  The old adage that you never fully recognize somethings importance in your life couldn't hold more true than in this situation.  Literally for me almost everything  I do revolves around food and/or drink.  I would sadly say that I also find it as a joy enhancer to a lot of activities I do socially.  Taking that out of the equation has caused me to truly find the real meaning of joy in situations as well as shown a clear path of what false joy looks like too.

After being a little sleep deprived and not fully there I thought it would be a good idea to document my first day to look back on, I am no actor and maybe a little monotone, but in any case here is where I was after night one:
